Corn is the secret to Wimmera Gold Ducks. Corn brings exceptional fat, flavour, colour and texture. Our ducks feed on a rich mix of Australian corn and quality grains and legumes. This select feed gives the skin a lustrous yellow that crisps to an intense golden hue. Under it is a fine layer of luscious fat that enriches the flesh as it cooks, making meat that is tender, mildly flavoured, but deeply delicious.
The duck are grown in great barns by small family farmers experienced in raising premium poultry. Our flocks have free access to cool, clean drinking water and plenty of fresh air, helping to keep them healthy and comfortable. The highest levels of animal welfare are the minimum, with the barns lined with fine wood shavings later used by local farmers as compost.
Our ducks are reared in the Wimmera, out in Victoria’s west. This is a sun soaked region nestled between the Grampians and Big Desert National Park. The ideal climate for raising ducks. Not too hot. Not too cold. The perfect home for Wimmera Gold Ducks.
Wimmera Gold Duck cooks perfectly each time. With excellent yield, consistent fat and plump, tender flesh it is an easy choice. On the table it presents beautifully, has rich texture and mild flavour giving great customer satisfaction.
